HOW DO SHORTFILL E-LIQUIDS WORK?

Posted by YOVS STAFF on

In the UK, the Tobacco Products Directive (TPD) regulates several aspects of the vaping industry. One of the most important aspects of the law is that a bottle of e-liquid with nicotine can’t be larger than 10 ml. The problem, though, is that a modern sub-ohm vaping device can easily consume more than 10 ml of e-liquid in a single day. Carrying several small bottles of e-liquid everywhere you go is terribly inconvenient and probably not high on your list of favourite things to do. That’s why short fill e-liquids exist. A short fill e-liquid bottle contains no nicotine, so it can be larger than 10 ml without violating the TPD. Just add a nicotine shot, and the e-liquid is ready to use.

Would you like to buy your e-liquid in larger bottles? We bet you would! Here’s how short fill e-liquids work.

A short fill e-liquid contains no nicotine. Assuming that you do want nicotine, you’ll need to buy at least one nicotine shot for every bottle of short fill e-liquid. A short fill e-liquid arrives with either 10 or 20 ml of empty space. Two common short fill e-liquid sizes are 60 ml (containing 50 ml of e-liquid) and 120 ml (containing 100 ml of e-liquid). When you receive your e-liquid and nicotine shot(s), you’ll open the bottle of e-liquid by prying off the top, dump the full contents of one or two nicotine shots into the bottle, close the bottle and give it a good shake to create your final e-liquid.

When you buy a nicotine shot from Ye Olde Vape Shoppe, you can select a nicotine strength of 15 or 18 mg. How do you get an e-liquid with the most popular nicotine strength of 3 mg? We’ve done the math to make things easier for you.

  • Adding one 15 mg nicotine shot to a 50 ml short fill bottle gives you a final nicotine strength of 3 mg.
  • Adding one 18 mg nicotine shot to a 60 ml short fill bottle gives you a final nicotine strength of 3 mg.
  • Adding two 15 mg nicotine shots to a 100 ml short fill bottle gives you a final nicotine strength of 3 mg.
  • Adding two 18 mg nicotine shots to a 120 ml short fill bottle gives you a final nicotine strength of 3 mg.
